Getting A Tattoo? Two Tips To Make The Experience As Pleasant As Possible

Getting a tattoo is a big decision that you should do everything in your power to be well prepared for.  While it's important to choose the right image, colors and placement spot, it's equally vital for you to perform certain actions before getting the tattoo so that your experience can be as pleasing as possible.  Use this information to learn more about what you can do to make sure that your day at the tattoo parlor is both safe and satisfactory.

Avoid Heavy Drinking Before Getting Your Tattoo

In movies, it's common to see people who get extremely drunk and then run out and get a tattoo.  However, real life is not like the big screen, and drinking heavily before you get your tattoo could be a recipe for disaster.

One reason why you want to avoid getting drunk before you get your tattoo is because the alcohol may lower your inhibitions and make you less vigilant than you would normally be.  You need to stay alert so you can carefully inspect the tattoo parlor for maximum cleanliness.

More importantly, however, you don't want to drink heavily before getting a tattoo because the alcohol may thin your blood.  If your blood thins, your tattoo artist could find it difficult to get the ink to stay within your pigment, and there could be intense bleeding when the tattoo gun pierces your skin.

Stay Out Of The Sun

Another tip to keep in mind as you're preparing for your tattoo is to stay out of the sun as much as possible.  You don't want to risk getting sunburned or turning red just before getting a tattoo, because that redness indicates that your blood has risen up to just beneath your skin.  The moment the tattoo needle touches your skin, the blood could burst through the surface, resulting in a bloody mess that is extremely unpleasant to deal with.

Staying out of the sun is also important because you want your skin to be in its most natural state just before your tattoo.  This helps your artist choose the right colors that will look good all year round, not just after you've gotten a fresh tan.

Having a safe tattoo experience doesn't have to be difficult if you know what to do beforehand.  Before your next tattoo, use these tips so you can have a pleasant tattoo experience that is memorable and safe.
